LiDAR Classifier

Point Cloud Classification & Reviewed Terrain Evidence

Product direction

Turn downloaded point clouds into reviewed, classified survey evidence with every derived class traceable to its source points.

LiDAR Classifier is being developed around a strict evidence chain: the original point cloud is immutable, every classification keeps per-point lineage, and the surveyor accepts or rejects candidate evidence rather than receiving a black-box conversion. Heavy classification runs on GILES POINT SOFTWARE infrastructure, while a desktop workbench reviews classes in 2D and bounded 3D with aerial color display. Classification reliability is the commercial release gate, and candidate terrain-feature claims are presented for review, never auto-accepted.

Designed capabilities

  • Immutable source point clouds with stable per-point identity and provenance
  • Standard ground and opt-in enhanced ground as two explicit, labeled classification modes
  • Project review workbench with per-class visibility and aerial overlay
  • Progressive delivery format carrying full classification and color evidence
  • True-color point display in development: millions of points carry color from a matched-season aerial, so the classified cloud reads like an image while every value remains a real, identified point
  • Candidate ground-feature claims held for surveyor review
Professional boundary

Classified points and derived features are reviewable evidence candidates. They are not survey measurements, located boundaries, or a substitute for field verification.
