Boundary calls, area, and comparison

Original Calls

Keeps attached record-deed bearings and distances visible beside the current survey, with dedicated update, detach, and Smart Snap tools.

Inside the workflow

Keep the record call visible beside the current survey without turning the comparison into a replacement boundary.

Original Calls attaches record-deed wording to the corresponding segments of a surveyor-selected working deed polyline. It can preserve already typed call text exactly or generate bearing-and-distance text from that selected comparison geometry, then places the labels in chosen order, direction, side, offset, layer, height, and annotative mode.

What that means on a drawing

When the deed calls are already typed on the drawing, Texts mode can collect them top-to-bottom or left-to-right and place each literal string beside the corresponding deed segment. The attachment stores the source polyline, segment, side, offset, and original text so Update Calls can return the note to that relationship without rewriting what the surveyor supplied.

Detailed capabilities

  • Starts at the deed segment the surveyor identifies and follows the selected polyline forward or in reverse, including a complete closed loop.
  • Texts mode preserves the selected TEXT or MTEXT deed-call strings exactly and requires one source string for each segment being labeled.
  • Geometry mode can generate quadrant bearing and distance text from the selected working deed polyline with surveyor-selected bearing format and distance precision.
  • Controls label side, offset, text height, output layer, annotative setting, source-text order, and forward or reverse course direction from a reusable template.
  • Places readable text along each segment and records the exact source handle, segment index, side, offset, and retained text on every attached call.
  • Update Calls can act on selected attached labels or all attached deed-call labels and restores their stored text, location, and orientation from the registered deed-polyline segment.
  • Detach Calls creates ordinary independent AutoCAD text with the same visible result and removes the attachment relationship.
  • Smart Snap is an explicit surveyor-directed comparison operation: the surveyor identifies matching starting and next corners on separate deed and survey polylines, then the working deed polyline's vertices are mapped in that chosen order and its attached call labels are updated.
  • Smart Snap stops when either selected polyline runs out of unique vertices and reports how many vertices and attached labels were updated.

How the surveyor uses it

  1. Choose current settings or open the saved Original Calls template.
  2. Select the working deed polyline, identify the first deed-call segment, and choose the direction around it.
  3. In Texts mode, select the already typed deed-call text in its drawing order; in Geometry mode, review the generated format and precision.
  4. Place the attached record calls beside the deed comparison and use Update Calls when that registered comparison polyline is deliberately repositioned or reshaped.
  5. Use Detach Calls when a label should become ordinary standalone AutoCAD text. Use Smart Snap only as an explicit working-comparison alignment chosen by the surveyor.
Drawing and professional boundary

Original Calls keeps record-deed evidence visually distinct from the current survey. Texts mode preserves the surveyor-selected literal record wording; Geometry mode reports only the selected working deed polyline. Smart Snap changes the selected working deed comparison polyline by direct surveyor-chosen vertex correspondence. It does not validate, correct, score, or replace the deed calls or the surveyor's current boundary.
