LOTS - Lot Organization, Tracking & Setup

Discovers and reviews subdivision lots in one simplified drawing preview, controls numbering and placement, keeps boundary-linked acreage and identity, and prepares the optional Enhanced DESCRIBE batch.

Inside the workflow

Review, number, position, and anchor the whole subdivision from one simplified interactive drawing.

LOTS begins with the surveyor's Lot 1 and can prepare one lot, a manually selected set, or the connected subdivision. Its single dark preview brings membership, numbering, user text, acreage, collision-aware placement, and—when Enhanced DESCRIBE is enabled—Point of Beginning preparation and the batch-description handoff into one review before anything is placed.

What that means on a drawing

The surveyor can stay zoomed in, select Lot 1, and let LOTS search all model space. Recognized lots begin checked; possible lots remain visible for review. In the preview, the surveyor can pan and zoom, change the order, type or drag to swap lot identities, move a complete label footprint, choose another exact POB corner with one click, and then place the labels directly at the reviewed locations.

Detailed capabilities

  • Supports Single, All, and Manual picked-order workflows without limiting discovery to the current AutoCAD view.
  • Starts exact topology at surveyor-selected Lot 1 and combines shared-course or exact-corner contact, drafting style, explicit lot layers, displayed line and curve calls, and approved optional plat conventions to classify candidates.
  • Starts recognized lots checked, keeps uncertain candidates visible as Possible lot - review, excludes unrelated closed shapes, and provides Check all and Uncheck all controls before approval.
  • Recognizes ordinary AutoCAD text, MLeader text, block-rendered annotation, shared reciprocal calls, direct curve facts, native or drawn line and curve tables, and supported Civil 3D general-segment labels at their displayed precision.
  • Renders arc-aware lot boundaries, corner rings, nearby AutoCAD vector paths, readable drawing text, POB marks, and the focused lot trace in one simplified pan-and-zoom preview.
  • Offers automatic-best, clockwise, counterclockwise, serpentine, and manual lot order with editable numbers and per-lot trailing surveyor text.
  • Measures the actual proposed AutoCAD MText footprint from its contents, text style, height, frame or mask allowance, and rotation before choosing a placement.
  • Finds the clean available position nearest each lot's interior center, moves only as needed around drawing text, vector linework, boundaries, and other proposed labels, and keeps any unavoidable overlap visible for review.
  • Lets the surveyor drag the entire label footprint, drag a label or row onto another lot, or type an existing number to swap the two lot identities without duplicates.
  • Places the anchored MText directly at the approved preview positions with no second placement pass or post-preview AutoCAD prompt.
  • After placement, a direct AutoCAD edit that changes one managed lot number to another active number performs the same atomic identity swap. Each boundary keeps its own acreage, POB, user text, location, rotation, formatting, and label handle.
  • Retains the exact boundary handle and fingerprint, stable lot and batch IDs, sequence, unrounded area, discovery and validation evidence, POB state, and live user wording needed for focused refresh and audit.
  • Can visibly review doubled zero-length vertices and removes them only after explicit approval with an all-or-nothing safety check; leaving the option off changes no boundary geometry.
  • In standalone LABEL, membership, numbering, acreage, user text, clean placement, anchoring, refresh, movement, audit, and EXPLODE remain complete without DESCRIBE.
  • With Enhanced DESCRIBE, the surveyor chooses a Road/ROW, nominated feature, manual exact vertex, or Later POB preference; LOTS proposes exact lot corners and any displayed corner can replace the proposal with one click.
  • Send Lots opens DESCRIBE's Lot Batch workspace with ready lots selected and held lots visible for correction, preserving exact lot-boundary and shared-edge identity for coordinated batch-description review.

How the surveyor uses it

  1. Select Lot 1 and choose Single, All, or Manual lot preparation. When Enhanced DESCRIBE is available, choose the preferred POB method before the evidence search.
  2. Review recognized and possible lots in the single simplified drawing, then include or exclude candidates without losing them from view.
  3. Choose or edit lot order, number, acreage display, and per-lot wording; drag labels or identities until the subdivision reads correctly.
  4. Review collision warnings and proposed POB corners, using one click on any eligible displayed corner when a different POB is preferred.
  5. Approve once to place every included anchored label at its previewed position. Continue editing or swapping managed lot numbers directly in AutoCAD when needed.
  6. When Enhanced DESCRIBE is enabled, use Send Lots to open the Lot Batch review with ready and held lots accounted for.
Drawing and professional boundary

Every lot remains the surveyor's exact drawn closed CAD boundary. Discovery evidence helps decide which shapes enter the review; it does not create, repair, or redefine a lot. Possible lots remain surveyor choices, calculated acreage remains boundary-derived, and an Enhanced DESCRIBE POB is an exact selected boundary vertex that requires the applicable review and affirmation. LABEL and DESCRIBE exchange versioned lot evidence without loading or depending on each other's runtime assembly.
