Describe the exact corner from supported survey evidence, then keep the visible note readable and under surveyor control.

Corner Labeler is the automatic anchored companion to the manual Monument Notes tool. It starts with one exact vertex of the surveyor-selected closed boundary, resolves supported point or approved symbol evidence at that vertex, and places the approved wording without requiring a second placement-time wording decision.

What that means on a drawing

A Civil 3D COGO point must coincide with the exact boundary vertex. A long-used hand-made symbol block may have an off-center insertion, so Corner Labeler can instead use the approved visible marker when that marker contains one and only one boundary vertex. Those evidence paths remain separate: the ordinary symbol never becomes a COGO point or lends authority to generic attributes.

Detailed capabilities

  • Grounds each automatic label to one exact vertex of the selected finite closed model-space boundary.
  • Accepts exact-coordinate native Civil 3D COGO points and supported legacy COGO or PNODE blocks with valid producer identity, point number, and description evidence.
  • Can associate an approved ordinary survey-symbol block by unique visible marker coverage when its long-used insertion point is off-center.
  • Uses a repaired Symbol Upgrader insertion as the exact anchor when a valid upgrade record is present, while keeping the source classified as block-symbol evidence rather than COGO evidence.
  • Rejects ambiguous, noncoincident, multi-corner, conflicting, hidden, or unsupported evidence instead of guessing a corner meaning.
  • Understands a deterministic monument, status, and tree vocabulary and reads only approved, non-ignored Field Code aliases and wording from the signed Learn My Plat knowledge available to LABEL.
  • Keeps a missing, pending, ignored, ambiguous, or invalid mapping limited to the affected automatic corner label; approved block-symbol and manual Monument Note paths remain available.
  • Measures the rotated MText footprint and searches collision candidates around the corner while protecting text, primary linework, other labels, and leader paths.
  • Uses native AutoCAD line, leader, or MLeader relationships without adding a duplicate leader during refresh.
  • Keeps ordinary automatic corner text horizontal to the finished sheet through a rotated floating paper-space viewport and carries its anchor-relative offset through pan, twist, and scale changes.
  • Treats a surveyor MOVE or grip adjustment as user-owned location and a manual ROTATE as Free orientation, so focused refresh does not erase those decisions.
  • Keeps the placed visible MText as the controlling wording after an in-place surveyor edit and passes that current visible text—not hidden prose—to the optional DESCRIBE evidence reader.
  • Revalidates and minimally reflows existing labels through the focused Corner Label Refresh command without scanning unrelated drawing content.

How the surveyor uses it

  1. Select the exact closed boundary whose corners will be labeled.
  2. Let Corner Labeler evaluate supported COGO, legacy point, approved symbol, and signed Field Code evidence at each exact vertex.
  3. Review any held or unresolved corner separately and use the manual Monument Notes path for a unique corner that should not be interpreted automatically.
  4. Place the collision-aware anchored notes, then move, rotate, or edit the visible MText when the plat presentation requires it.
  5. Use Corner Label Refresh after an exact registered source or viewport context changes; the tool revalidates only its owned relationships and preserves surveyor-owned presentation decisions.
Drawing and professional boundary

Corner Labeler identifies and describes exact CAD boundary vertices; it does not create or move boundary corners. COGO coordinate evidence must coincide within the fixed exact tolerance. Visible-marker grace belongs only to an independently approved ordinary symbol that covers exactly one vertex and never promotes its generic attributes to COGO facts. Unsupported or competing evidence holds the affected label instead of inventing wording.
