Inside the workflow
Fill the missing corners without renumbering the survey points that are already there.
Boundary Points follows one surveyor-selected closed boundary from the chosen first corner and direction. It inventories recognized survey points already occupying the boundary vertices, leaves those points and their numbers alone, and prepares only the missing vertices for review and creation.
What that means on a drawing
A subdivision boundary may share corners that already have point numbers while several new lot corners still need points. Boundary Points keeps the existing numbers, finds one clean unused range for only the accepted missing corners, and can place them consecutively or inside the selected lot's reserved hundred-number block.
Detailed capabilities
- Orders the exact vertices of one selected closed boundary from the surveyor's chosen first corner and forward or reverse direction.
- Recognizes already occupied boundary vertices within the selected tolerance and does not recreate or renumber their survey points.
- Automatic mode prepares every missing vertex with one surveyor-selected description.
- Detailed mode visits each missing vertex so its description can be accepted, changed, skipped, revisited, or canceled before any point number is committed.
- Finds a clean contiguous unused point-number range at or above the preferred starting number and assigns numbers only to accepted missing vertices.
- Supports ordinary consecutive numbering, an empty thousand series, and subdivision lot blocks such as Lot 1 = 1101-1199 and Lot 2 = 1201-1299 from a 1000 series base.
- Keeps exact hundreds reserved as block headers and prevents a lot's new points from spilling into the next lot block.
- Creates portable DBPoint/NODE survey points in regular AutoCAD with durable point number, raw description, and elevation metadata.
- Uses the optional Civil 3D adapter to create native COGO points when that host and point type are requested; the regular AutoCAD path remains complete without Civil 3D references.
- Offers zero or boundary-vertex elevation in regular AutoCAD and an explicit Civil 3D surface option as a boundary field-check aid.
- Stops Automatic creation if a selected surface fails at any accepted vertex. Detailed mode requires the surveyor to resolve each failure with Skip, Vertex Z, or Zero and never substitutes zero silently.
How the surveyor uses it
- Select Automatic or Detailed review, then select the exact closed boundary.
- Pick the first corner and direction around the boundary and confirm the occupied-location tolerance.
- Choose the numbering method, preferred range or lot block, point description, and elevation source.
- Review every proposed missing point; in Detailed mode, accept, edit, skip, go back, or cancel before creation.
- Approve the complete plan once so the accepted points receive a conflict-free number range and are created through the regular AutoCAD or optional Civil 3D adapter.
Boundary Points creates points only at vertices of the exact surveyor-selected CAD boundary. It does not add corners, alter the boundary, reclassify existing survey points, or renumber points already in the drawing. A Civil 3D surface may supply an explicitly reviewed field-check elevation only; surface failure never changes a point to zero without the surveyor's decision.
