Course annotation that changes intelligently with the drawing scale—and remembers what the surveyor decided.
Boundary Labeler works from one exact surveyor-selected closed CAD boundary. It measures the real text and available course room at the active annotation scale, prepares a complete presentation plan, and keeps every generated bearing, distance, and curve fact tied to the selected boundary while the surveyor remains free to move, format, or add wording to the visible annotation.
What that means on a drawing
A road frontage that is too crowded at 1 inch = 200 feet can move into a native line or curve table. At 1 inch = 50 feet, the same calls can return to readable labels on the boundary. When either scale is revisited, LABEL restores the positions, rotations, table placement, and per-course choices previously reviewed for that scale.
Detailed capabilities
- Evaluates every straight and curved course independently at the active annotation scale.
- Uses a single bearing-and-distance line when it fits, stacks the call when that is more readable, and places a shifted leader when the course cannot safely carry the text.
- Converts crowded groups into native line or curve tables when automatic mode determines that table presentation is appropriate.
- Lets the surveyor keep automatic selection or explicitly require a direct label or table reference for an individual course at the current scale.
- Checks the selected boundary, nearby drawing obstacles, other planned labels, leaders, and table areas before choosing the initial placement.
- Keeps independent scale memory for label and table positions, anchor locations, rotations, formatting, leader visibility, table state, and per-course presentation choices.
- Retains surveyor-added wording by semantic course and field identity so it can follow the same fact across attached scales and between direct-label and table presentation.
- Regenerates authoritative bearings, distances, radii, delta angles, arc lengths, and chord facts from the exact selected CAD boundary instead of treating edited visible numbers as new geometry.
- Supports focused refresh, reflow, reset, detach, and audit paths without scanning unrelated drawing content.
How the surveyor uses it
- Select the exact closed model-space boundary that owns the course facts.
- Use the current drafting template and active annotation scale to prepare the first automatic layout.
- Review direct labels, leaders, and any proposed line or curve table; move or format them and make explicit course-level choices where desired.
- Enter or revise the surveyor's own wording at any one drawing scale. LABEL carries those text edits to every scale so changing scale or layout does not remove them.
- Change to another drawing scale and let that scale receive its own plan, then return to a prior scale to restore its reviewed presentation.
The surveyor-selected closed CAD polyline is the sole authority for course geometry and order. Boundary Labeler does not derive, repair, or validate the survey boundary from tax parcels, GIS linework, imagery, or another presentation source. Its scale memory changes annotation presentation only; it never changes the selected boundary.
